Something that that my doctor best friend told me once regarding hearing loss still resonates in my ears:

Hearing damage is permanent!

It isn't like any other injury which heals, hearing damage is permanent and doesn't recover.
Take that with you to bed tonight! That and the stark fact that a good set of earplugs cost less than Ł10! How much is your hearing worth?
