In my opinion Easykart is the way forward in National Championship racing.
Having raced in a veriety of classes from Juniors through seniors in the last 11 years, last year I made the move to easykart. In my opinion it is the best class I have ever raced in.
Having been through most classes each one has meant to provide equal racing. If you want to compete at the top you realistically need the best motors and a lot of money. That is the reality of it. I moved to easykart at first a bit sceptical that they could provide equal equipment but within 5 laps I was hooked! I did the whole season in 2008 and after paying your entry fees, tyres, testing etc, that is it. You are on the grid and it is down to you the driver. No engine is faster than the other. Andy Cox rebuids most of the engines on the grid. Some have taken their engines elsewhere to suposedly find extra tenths.....the majority of these engines have ended up being re-rebuilt when they have gone bang by andy Cox! So engines are very controlled and reliable.
The championship races at tracks all over the country and the competition is tough. You have either people who have come from MSA racing or people from Club100. The club100 guys are JUST AS QUICK as the ex MSA guys, most have been racing since I was been born so are also very quick! The atmoshere is great and I have been told continuosly by the 'more mature' easykarters that it is how karting used to be!
Last race saw 10 cadets, 20 juniors, 40 senior lights and 3 senior heavies. So is becoming increasingly popular.
The thing that tops it off for me is that Easykart is raced in a variety of countries around the world and each year the top drivers from each year race at the World Championships in Italy. Which other championship offers this from a 3000-4000 budget??
For more info check out the website www.easykart.co.uk
The only BAD thing about Easykart is it should have come out 5 years ago! We then wouldnt have many many classes with many many championships with people spending many many thousands of pounds!
This is just my opinion, so die hard rotax and TKMers please dont get offended!!
