Frank, as Alan said, if you're not desperate for the bearings (i.e. no replacement available) then they are inexpensive enough not to worry about the replacement.
The kingpin bearings are difficult to remove without forcing them in the direction they're not designed to be forced, so if you think they're fine before you start you'll certainly think about changing them at the end of it!
And when you take in account the cost of the stub axle itself, the addition of a couple of bearings should be less than the VAT you paid for the axle!
