To clarify, there is a proposal into Kart Sporting committee to make the new FIA/CIK child helmet standard CMR / CMS 2007 mandatory for Cadets from 2011. The CIK will likely make this helmet standard mandatory for all under 16 year olds from 2010. The proposal is not yet approved until it goes through Kart Sporting then Council. The child helmet is considered a big step forward in safety for children, being better shaped and much lighter.
