I use SL3 on my pro kart. This time of year i would have 16psi front 17 rear. On a really cold day as high as 21 front 22 rear. In the height of summer 11 front 12 rear. I know some guys that race in my class would run slightly higher pressures in the same conditions and on the track there is very little to chose between us in terms of lap times. These pressures work for me.
Once your sons lap times are consistant for a whole session then you can play about with tyre pressures and you'll know what works best for you.
