Hi,

Firstly make sure all the connections to the sensors are clean and dry as that can cause some odd readings.

for the different modes get the "quick start guide" from :

http://www.alfano-usa.com/Alfano/manuals.html

Its concise and makes it easy to follow to get your Alfano set up properly... ie how to set it for a 2stroke /4stoke engine .. use record or real time mode .. set number of mag stipes etc
