There's a couple of messages here for all of us though.
Firstly TKM at Clay. It's a great success story but has been achieved by an organised enthusiasm of drivers working with the club's co-operation.
There's a different problem with Blues at Dunks which has its roots in a political situation which is proving difficult to overcome, though people on both sides of the fence, drivers and club are trying. (Sometimes very trying, which is part of the problem, perhaps)
One of the factors is the presence of the Blues Series races which schedules 9 races at various other tracks in the early part of the year and which most of the Blues drivers follow. So one finds most of the early months (March to August) have one if not two races per month already and many Blues drivers aren't up for another race in the month.
There aren't enough drivers to follow the series and do the Dunks clubby as well. (It would have to be a clubby, since Dunks aren't affiliated to the NKRA this year and the series counts towards the National championships through the NKRA).
Which is a shame, because I remember the grids of over 60, with a C and D finals that used to run there too.
It then becomes difficult for the Club to whip up any enthusiasm for a grid which is probably only there from September to November, or for drivers to whip up the numbers to guarantee a separate grid. (Separate grids because the only grids which can be teamed with Blue are either full in their own right at Dunks or not represented. Elsewhere Blues have been teamed with rotax 177...but I suspect that wouldn't be popular at Dunks for some reason ... or TKM which also don't have a grid there.
The numbers racing Blue in the south fell off last year from around 20 to less than 10 after the NKRA Grande Final, even with the stimulus of the 'Autumn Extravaganza' but rose back towards 20 for the Trophy race in November.
This year in the south seems to be starting with a respectable number of new seniors though.
