That's pretty shocking stuff. However its hard to know whether it gives a complete picture or not. I don't really know enough on stats of injuries to or deaths of cyclist as a result of RTAs, but it may well be that in many cases it doesn't involve minor blunt force trauma to the head - which is all a cycle helmet would be designed to protect against.

Thanks for your kind words about my friend. It was a truely shocking event. He was cycling along slowly... hit something in the road went over the bars and cracked the front of his skull on the tarmac and died instantly. The accident was a freak one.
