Just been working through the reg book I picked up the other day and found the full format
Saturday: Practice Qualifying - 10 mins (sets both heat grids) Heat 1 - 10 mins + 1 lap
Sunday: Heat 2 - 10 mins + 1 lap Repechage A and B races (for classes of 30+, essentially a B and C final) - 10 mins + 1 lap Final 1 - 15 mins + 1 lap (sets grid for final 2) Final 2 - 15 mins + 1 lap (trophy award final)
Points awarded in repechage and final races only 50 (1st place) - 18 (30th) in finals 34 (5th place) and down in repechage A, top 4 promoted to full finals
The new timed format is supposedly to prevent metings overrunning by having more or less fixed slots for each race and sticking to them
Championship decided on best 10 results from the 12 finals and/or 6 repechage A
Any thoughts on all of that? Races will be longer than before, though I'm not so convinced that's the right way to go as the field will spread over the length of the race, as opposed to shorter races where the field is bunched up most of the race and there is a lot more wheel to wheel stuff
I also wonder what they will do with regards to keeping the drivers posted on remaining time, as lap counter boards will be negated up until the last lap
