One of the guys I spoke to who have seen it in the flesh told me the central bearing is floating. That is the caliper is mounted to the middle bearing which floats rotationally up to a point. So that may get rid of the problem of the axle binding in the centre but I'm not convinced by the design or safety of it.

The airflow running under the seat may work. Assuming the angle of the seat from the bottom to the back is less then 30 degrees the flow of air should stay attached to the seat allowing you to get a decent amount of air to the brake. Even if it isn't you'll still get some air to the brake, although it will consist of eddies and vortices and will not have much velocity to it in comparison.
