Quite right Chris.

Our's are already machined down so that we don't suffer disc failure when riding kerbs (oops - shouldn't have said that !!) and they are fine. We've run them like that for a couple of years.

Most kart brakes are way over powered so taking them down in diameter is not an issue. All you need to do is keep an eye on the pads as they wear with a lip so as long as the lips don't touch there is no problem - and of course you should be looking at the pads on a very frequent basis anyway !!
