But the principle is the same.

Look at any wheel and you will see the centre (the well) is a smaller diameter than the outer rim.

The diameter of the tyre is (of course) less than that of the wheel outer rim: otherwise it would just peel off. So to get the tyre over the outer rim you have to get one side of the tyre into the "well" of the wheel.

Be it Karts, Motorbikes, Pushbikes or Cars, the basic method is the same: that's why wheels are made like that.
