We run wets on ally, slicks on mag rims.

Mags are lighter, more expensive and supposedly the pressures and temp are more stable so they are better for use with slicks. You can run half a psi more without the tyres going off at the end of the session. I can't honestly tell the differece though!

I race rotax but I doubt you need to buy ally rims for your slicks. How far are you off the pace of the quickest? if your over a second away then concentrate on pressures, set up and lines first.
