As I understand it you only have to fit the plastic bumpers if racing a CIK class i.e. KF3 etc and EuroMax - but not for National class racing here in the UK, well not at present. One point however, as the plastic bumpers are more flexiable they can improve the handling, especially in the Junior/Mini Rotax classes, where grip exceeds power (Junior is a case in point), well worth a look if looking for that odd tenth or two!!
