ok so if im getting this correct, its got nothing to do with the actual heat that makes the tyre grip the track but the actual size of the contact patch of the tyres which... IS in turn affected by heat, making the tyres fluctuate and it is trying to keep the tyres at an optimumn temp as to keep the tyre at their optimumn contact patch?
ie.... too hot less contact, less grip or.... too cold more contact more grip????
i always thought that putting more air into the tyre gave more grip, making the tyre hotter, thus giving less contact with the track,... doesnt make sense? when i read this back.. the first part does.
i have been at tracks with my lad and when he has came in from a heat, when going to pick up his kart and place it on the trolly, the tyres are actually stuck to the ground,...so to speak, you can hear them pealing of the track. so it must have something to do with the heat of the tyre also giving grip via the heated soft rubber??
i hope this is half correct and i dont sound a complete plonker!!
