If you had 5 rounds and all had to be counted then with 2 good rounds and 2 bad ones your championship hopes would be pretty shattered anyway. At least the drop system gives allowance for the odd mishap including an illness that may keep you out of one round.
Unfortunately the other side is that it does add cost and could be seen to favour the bigger budget racers but that is hard to avoid. If the rounds are spread around the country there will always be some who can afford the time and expense of practising at all the clubs holding races whilst others will only visit for the race weekend. the same could be said for the optional Friday practice days.
As has been said previously - Money can not buy success but it can help!
