If you go to a model shop they sell a product to remove superglue some of it does have acetone in it because you can smell it but some you can't smell I have just put some acetone on a 2 pack laquered surface and it didn't affect it so you should be okay next time you stick something on your helmet use clear silicone but don't go too heavy with it.

Be brave you can always get it painted again :-)
