Most chassis will succumb to wear from the clamps and mount.

Many people use emery strip to try and protect the top of the chassis tube and give extra grip.

A 120 grit should be ok and you can buy it in rolls or strips on Ebay. Search for emery strip.

You can secure it with cable ties or insulating tape.

Skateboard grip tape is good because it's sticky backed but make sure you thoroughly clean the powder coating and do it with very clean hands to prevent oily fingermarks on the glue.
