If you look after them they will last a 1000 charges! They will keep going and then one day will not work at all, they don't run down and give partial performance like the lead acid. We carry an old but good nick lead acid as back up.

The optimate is good, but a much cheaper and better charger is the IMAX B6, it will charge any battery you can think of with loads of different modes and you can programme charge time and charge rate. It runs off of a 12V power source - either a 5A laptop style source or 12V car battery - cigar lighter, so you don't even need mains!
