I believe there is too many different engine categories in the British Champs, i.e How is it fair to have 2 or 3 Junior British Champions yet one driver had 60 competitors to beat and the other only 10?

If the MSA dictated which engine is the recognised championship engine for each age category’s then S1 or another body ran it, then this would bring the correct glory to being seeded in the country. This would also create more track time to the S1 competitors.

You are also right in that it should be harder to get an entry into it, so just to start a season is a merit on its own. I was speaking to a parent last weekend who is doing S1 this year to “bring their child on”! I then watched that child come last in a club race 2 seconds off the pace. Maybe the 107% qualifying rule should apply, how many would then enter if they are going home on a Saturday afternoon? A British Championship should not be there to bring a child up to speed, it should be the best drivers (adults included) to race against each other.

This would also help clubs keep/retain their members as people do like to race different engine types. This year the southern clubs clapped with joy when S1 opened its doors to Rotax again. Unfortunately their short sightedness is biting them where it hurts as entries are poor to say the least and they assisted S1 to take their customers away.
