Each to their own when it comes to what formula you want to race in -
KZ top end experience and possibly cost depending on knowledge and bought in support, high maintenance - some people like that - it involves them more.
F100 pure raw experience similar comments to KZ.
X30 step down from the above - in between the above an Rotaxmax, higher cost than Rotax, tyres faster but can be inconsistent.
Rotaxmax, took a drumming over that last two years, Evo upgrades badly developed, introduced, marketed etc. but lets move on from there.
Rotax / JAG are putting some effort in now, the evo has been running in Europe this year.
We tested at Wilton Mill yesterday.
Top effort from the teams supporting this, DHR, KR sport, Coles and JAG, Ogden was there too. We ran in DHR, the only cost to us was the Wilton Mill track day test fee. Everything else was provided, karts fresh from action in Europe, seat / driver fit etc. sorted by the team, JAG supplied fresh Mojos FOC and engines where needed, but a lot of the engines were what the team had been running in Europe. So all the gear provided FOC to whomever want to test - no commitments.
We went there thinking how much different can the evo stuff be.
The result we found was although the actual lap times may not change a lot - perhaps a tenth of two better with the evo (ancillaries - the engine is the same apart from better / more durable conrod), the engine was much better to drive, mainly we think from carb improvements, but partly ignition and certainly power valve. Throttle control was not so critical - you could dump the throttle more so and throttle response was better (if you weren't a Rotax throttle control expert). The power valve worked well and exactly the same from lap 1 warm up to finish of a long test session.
All the mojos seem to run consistently; we all ran faster on new rubber.
Engine builders dealing with evos for Europe say the current Barrels are more even in terms of before perhaps 2 out of 10 barrels might stand out as good, where as now maybe 2 out of 10 are not so good.
Rotax / JAG will be doing a deal for all the ancillaries to run on Prevo engines if you wish, and they look reasonably priced which takes into account the crash of the pound due to Brexit.
As you can see from the recent post - you will be able to run evo or prevo together next year.
One key point, out of all the engines running yesterday across all the teams and all the formula, mini, junior, senior, not one broke down or had a problem with any of the ancillaries or engine.

So if you want the ultimate experience and spannering involvement, perhaps with some cost (depending on your personal situation) go KZ or F100.

If you want some where in between, go X30 but have a bit of a lottery perhaps with Komets.

If you want reliable running with limited hassle and cost and a certain level of consistency run Rotax evo Ancilaries, or if you need a new motor the complete set up.
