A well used Scotchbrite as you don't want to remove any more material and add to the problem.

The amount of WD40 you leave on is minimal once you wipe it off and it's just enough to act as a barrier.

On the subject of hubs, the pinch bolts should have a washer under the head which is the same diameter as the head.

I see many hubs ruined when the bolt is replaced and the washer is lost.

The washer is essential to stop the bolt head galling to the hub and grinding awa the seating.

Every time you tighten the hub you rub off the self protective oxide layer that materials like aluminium and mag/ally produce when their bare metal is exposed.

You can then get a 'cold weld' on the threads.

If you've ever wondered why your pinch bolts are so '*Ing tight when you try to undo them! that's why.

The bolts never seem to round off the hex when you do them up, only when your in a panic trying to get them off.

The threads need some lubrication and this can avoid that stinging shock wave that comes back through the T bar as you break the galling when you undo them.

It's the cause of rounded hex's and stripped hubs.

Molybdenum is a good anti galling lube.

I'll shut up now, info overload light just came on :)
