Paul,I'm not a regular on here these days but I've caught Turner out a few times back in the day.

Not to worry though, because "I don't read his posts". You must have really upset him.

He might be "not reading" mine after today.

You only have to pick a subject close to his heart and the bombast drops and he can't help but show his blinkers.

I could be mischievous now and remind him of the dead end he talked himself into before and refused to answer his way out of.

But, I wont. He tries his best to help people on here, and fair play to him.

Back to the subject:
Honda have plenty of fantastic engineers.

Back in the day they sent their best and brightest to the F1 engine program, now I'd suggest their best and brightest are indulged by making robots, moto gp bikes, jets and the like. None of which translate easily to today's F1.

As is, they neither have the in house engineering nouse to succeed in F1 or the culture/budget to go out and buy success.

Honda will never come cap in hand to the U.K. asking us to build their engines it is against everything the company stands for.

Remember, Mercedes (a far wealthier and equally proud company) bought their success from a very well established racing engine manufacturer.

Working with talent (and money) attracts talent etc and most of the best racing engine workers in the world now live within a (small circle drawn on a map) of North Northampton.

Mercedes have piled a fortune into Brixworth, the bog standard machine shop guys all own comfortable 4/5 bedroom houses in the area and are "loving" the win bonuses ("not what they used to be though" "the Red Bull guys used to get s*** loads" "staff discount on the cars isn't what it was" they say all that with 2 or 3 brand new Mercs on the drive. Those are all direct moans I've heard from "average" Joes in the Brixworth factory this past year.

As for the idea that the Honda's are running in anymore of a "detuned" state than anyone else. Don't make me laugh, they're all running massively detuned, the engine numbers rules are the same for everyone, I'd suggest that the Merc is probably running a lower "tune" than the Honda.
