Unless of course you have already set the kart up with dynamic toe out, you are using flexible tyres (what make) at low tyre pressures, when setting up for greater toe out at the corners results in less stability corner and exit.

In addition the increased sensitivity of the steering (toe out is dynamically unstable) may be more than a particular driver can manage, resulting in slower entry speeds and slower corners.

Now, if StartedOutFun follows the 'general' advice without realising that the various bits of the kart interact, he might be confused as to why he is going slower and conclude that his chassis is defective.

There is lots of 'general advice' out there and it is general for a reason. There are also lots of exceptions.
