In the normal way, brake pads wear more at the leading edge than the trailing edge and more at the outer than the inner edge indicating where the work is being done. To remedy this the pad is shaped to give more lining area at the outside edge ie. 'crescent ' shaped and the pad is loaded more at the trailing edge by using the bigger piston. I would support the view suggested by 'Alanrr' that the brake will work perfectly well using glycol based fluid Dot 4 or 5.1 ( 5.1 is not to be confused with Dot 5)and go further to say that mixing glycol and silicon gives no problem. You pays your money (a lot ) and make your choice.
