Well, there's no iron in the radiator or the hoses and there's no iron in the cylinder head, cylinder barrel or crankcase.

So the rust comes from the head bolts and washers, not a real problem, it just looks nasty.

Running a proper coolant stops it.

Your biggest problem will be the seals on the crank and water pump, these will need replacing.

An easy job to do yourself for a few quid if it's an unsealed engine but an expensive job if it's sealed.
