300ml castor based per 5 litres petrol is fine.

Start at 2 turns out on the low jet, and between 1/8th and 1/4th turn out for the high jet (T bar)and it should run fine.

What circuit? Your profile doesn't give too much away! Most circuits will give a guide to sprocket sizes on their web site under a heading such as "set up data" or similar. If it's Whilton try starting on an 82 for example.

In practice the motor will eventually rev to about 16000 rpm on most cicuits, but a new driver will not get anywhere near this on the "correct" sprocket (this may change with conditions).

It's all about corner exit speeds onto the straights in karting. If you're not making say 15000 add a couple of teeth and work from there, as this will improove corner exit speeds in your case. Rule of thumb, + or - 300 rpm per tooth on the rear sprocket.

Hope this helps, enjoy karting!
