The problem is that any statistics are bound to be affected by driver psychology!

I have no data to support the following but this just a personal observation - Having been away from karting since the 70's and now looking at the sport for my children I find the amount of contact at some tracks is now much much higher than "of old".

When I raced you tried not to hit the driver in front 'cos it was 50/50 who would come off worst i.e. self monitoring. With the current wedged shaped front and angled rear bumpers I suspect the odds are now in significantly in favour of the person behind as they would lift the rear of the kart in front. Has this led to more drivers "taking a chance" as it would have to monitored by steward etc. - I leave you to decide.

I suspect this was not the intention of the plastics when introduced but many changes have side effects
