yes i remember when tom chilton made his debut, they just bought two 888 astras, new cars at the time and the car to have and paid a team to run him and arron slight. I don't rate him but with the nature of the series now he's managed to make a living out of being a 'touring car personality'

It amused me as well the comment from his new team boss as to why he'd hired him, for his on track 'experience' and what he can give them off track, i'e he's not quick but he'll be good for our sponsors and the tv cameras like him.

i expect they'll be allowed to run with no ballast, wouldn't surprise me if they were allowed the turbo engine! and you can see it now, at some point he'll luck into a podium, cue chilton jumping on the roof of his car followed by luvvie style gushing to louise goodman 'oh the guys have worked so hard for this, this is for all the guys back at base, and on the car etc etc, its so hard being a touring car driver, and the team has no money blah blah'

probably unreasonably cynical, but the guy does get on my nerves

I just hope stephen jelley isn't back next year, now that WAS a joke. He got pole at brands and even his own team thought it was a computer error, he's that bad, but he puts a sticker on the car and cash in the team so...
