I've just gone through the process of installing one of these. Now it's on I think its brilliant; my pusher is my girlfriend and she was unable to push start me before, now she can do it easily as you can get plenty of speed up before dropping the kart which means it always starts.

The only downside is that fitting them isn't easy; its not just a case of bolting it on and going (at least it wasn't on my JKH). The steps I had to take are:

1. Grinding away the front of the unit so it doesn't foul on the seat (my seat is quite far back).
2. Fitting a smaller wheel so it doesn't foul on the axle (I used an 80mm wheel off a castor; the standard wheel is 100mm).
3. Wrapping some pipe repair tape (from halfords) around the chassis first. This stops the unit rotating as the tape is quite thick, and sticky on both sides.
4. Replacing the bolts that go through the mechanism with countersunk ones so they don't get in the way of the bracket bolts.
5. I used exhaust mounting brackets (from halfords) to mount the unit, as the standard alloy brackets were the wrong size for my frame and didn't look strong enough (you need to tighten them up a lot to stop it moving).
6. Fitting a BMX brake lever to the back of the seat to act as a release mechanism. This took a while but is well worth it as it means your pusher can keep both hands on the seat then just push down on the lever.

So I'd expect to spend about a day fitting it to do the job properly, but you'll be pleased with it when you're done. I think a child could push start me now.
