They must have had trouble with the plastic gears during testing of the new clutch.

This is probably why you have to fit the metal gears with the new clutch.

I presume there is more backlash force on the balance shaft as the new clutch engages and disengages.

It shouldn't really require more oil as so long as there is enough for the bottom gear to pick up.

Hopefully there will not be a different wear rate on the balance shaft and water pump gears with the narrower section metal gears.
