Some months ago our factory manager came up to the office to dispose of a few sheets of paper in our little desktop shredder. Half way through the thing jammed. Sensibly, he turned it off from the mains and started pulling with both hands on the half page of paper still sticking out of the top. he was leaning over the machine because it takes some force to get the paper out. Suddenly, out it pops, his hands come shooting up and he pokes himself in both eyes. I was in the office at the time. After I had picked myself up from the floor and wiped the tears from my eyes I realised he was actually is quite a lot of pain. We had to run him to the hospital where he was diagnosed with a scratched retina. He threatened to sue me because he hadn't been trained to use the shredder. As it happens he 's fine, but if he had lost sight in one or both eyes...
