Stand at the front of the chassis to do both front and rear axle checking.

Datum axle (ie. the one you place across the kingpins) to rear axle checks the twist in the chassis.

Datum axle to front stubs tells you if you have a front chassis corner bent up (using the datum axle vs. the thicker inboard bit of the stub) or if you have a stub axle bent (using the datum axle vs. the bit of the stub where the hub/wheel locates).
