Hi,
there really isn't what you might call a 'standard' drop off point. We started with three new Rotax batterys around a year ago - one lasted only three months of practice days, but was replaced under warranty. One is still going strong after 12 months regular use. I have now taken that one out of service and will start 2009, if we race, with a new one (12 months use I think is a safe bet for a new unit). I have seen a lot of people have battery problems, but often they come from the way the battery is mounted, and how its chargéd - these do seem to be the main reasons for failure rather then poor units.
