cover it has been identical since at least 1971 it has started 100's of thousands of races at all levels without problem in that time, the reg isn't broken so let's not fix it or we'll end up with another farcical reg like the red flag one! The red flag one wasn't broken either but rather than train CoC's how to use it we chose the route of 'fixing' it and making it farcical! As Chris says the current onus is on the drivers to do the correct thing, which again in reality they know what that is or can ask and it's simple, pole man dictates a steady/sensible pace that is fast enough to keep engines clear and not so fast as to make it difficult for the others to keep formation, the onus then is upon the rest of the grid to keep in formation! Dead simple, the reg works perfectly unless someone is trying to abuse it!
Legislate more than that and the barrack room lawyers come out the wood work!
