Has it got wet recently?

I think I already know that answer, given the weather.

When you changed the battery did you take the old one out and immediately replace it with a new one.

Sometimes, leaving the battery out for a while can do the trick.

Sometimes they get their knickers in a twist and letting everything die down can resurrect it.

If thid does work, go through every menu and change and save it then go back to your original setting after.

Because of its particular sort of memory, little bits can get corrupted and a complete reset can help.

When it switches on, do the buttons have any effect whatsoever?

They're not difficult to take apart, so if you want to have a go it's worth just opening it and seeing if it is wet.
