Follow what SteveG said, you won't go far wrong.

Temperature can be controlled by altering the mixture. Generally, richening will cool, weakening will heat-up. You can also change grade of spark plug to help the engine run hotter or cooler. We use a Denso IW24 in very cold weather and IW27 or IW29 in the summer.
