Although the engine will start & run ok with pitting of the head, it will mean that the actual combustion chamber volume is greater than the measured volume (due to trapped air pockets), therefore unless there is sufficient metal on the head to machine it clean, performance will suffer. If you're just a practice day karter, it probably wont matter.
What went wrong? The BT's are usually bullet proof unless abused!
