Yep the Organic Light Emitting Diode, OLED.

Read the one-from-last post, "Re: for gaming" under the original LCD vs Plasma Thread further down this page. Although the OLED is a better technology it won't be mainstream for some time.

Chris34, glad you went with the Sony LCD. Very good screens, as I mentioned before these screens seem so bright and vibrant because of the need for an internal light source. Also the higher frequencies these newer LCD's run help prevent the motion tracking issue.
