I am one of those people 'on the limit' in tkm, and any reduction in a weight limit would mean I would quit the class I love. End of story.

My chassis weighs 70.5-71kgs with a 3 ltr fuel tank. Add another 1.5-2kgs for race suit and helmet (yeah, I was surprised too!), you are then looking at a maximum driver weight of 74/75kgs to be comfortable.

In my eyes, the future of karting lies not just in the young guns being whipped to f1 stardom but also in the hands of the 30 somethings with disposable wealth and tired of getting nicked on overcrowded public roads. The majority will not make the weight as it stands.

I know at least three people (with more than enough money and enthusiasm) who have considered starting karting in tkm but have been put off simply because I struggle to make the weight. I'm average height, but I don't think anybody would class me as overweight. You have to be quite careful with BMI, it is NOT accurate but rather a guideline. Most people are quite surprised to hear me talking about diets, simply to make karting possible.

Any class looking to survive should seek to widen it's access as much as possible, not limit it. However, I don't think tkm could raise the weight limit without an increase in power from the engine.

How about we just leave what works alone? TKM, despite its eager doomsayers, seems to be doing rather nicely! Wot happened to all this KF will end the world then? :p
