I am a bit confused: why are you SURPRISED that you get an:-

"odd leaning of affect when lifing off the gas at the end of long straights"

....?

That's what I would EXPECT to happen if you lift off the gas!

What does this effect 'FEEL like' or 'do' that you are surprised by and how does it differ from the STANDARD effect when you lift off the throttle?

Ian
