Gosh, I wish we had the relative transparency and fairness of the UK system in France. Imagine a system where the manipulation of facts and implementation of knee jerk popularist policies, which are implemented virtually over night with virtually no consultation.
Where all this is done for the pursuit of one mans political career. That's what you get with presidential politics. At least in the UK you have a party behind each leader to temper the excesses.
My personal view, is that almost all polititians come to the chamber with the best of intentions and a genuinely held believe they can make a difference. They very quickly learn that this is meaningless and that they are slaves to the public image, or at least the 24 hour medias perception and spin of this.
I would lay the blame for almost all the worlds current problems on 24 hour news.
