Ian my friend’s chequebook was not huge by any means but how do you define HUGE? What is a lot of money to one person is a pittance to another person, I am sure there were a lot of guys on the grid with a considerable amount of more money than him, like I said it was a combination of his driving and engineering skill, my friend was and still is a back street garage owner built up from scratch born with no silver spoon but built up by him over a lot years hard work, that said he did go on to become what most would consider to be a wealthy man But I must stress that only happened on the back of his racing exploits. His cars were always seen as a front runner or the best prepared (engineered) on the grid which led to him starting a very successful motorsport company on the strength of that race preparing everyone else’s TVR, s which then led to him owning all the jigs and body moulds for the Tuscan from TVR, so in my book that makes him a good guy (engineer) not bad guy huge chequebook Andy
