If you were to cut the fuel but not the airflow when the driver lifts off the throttle, like not closing the throttle butterflies or whatever they use, would the airflow through the engine provide enough exhaust gas for this effect? I suspect there is not enough exhaust gas velocity without combustion and expansion, any ideas?
