Strange they way that people operate. I have been secretary of my local Conservative club now for nearly nine years, this basically covers the day to day running of the club.
About 70% of the membership are great, they fully appreciate that the club is still going, despite pubs around going to the wall on an almost weekly basis, in the worst recession in 100 years, giving them a safe and pleasant environment to have a drink, chat, game of bowls, cards, darts, dominoes, whatever.
The other 30% are a complete pain in the @rse!!!
I am damned if I do, damned if I don`t, every decision I make on behalf of the club is questioned, on the odd occasion I get it wrong, I am lambasted, on the occasions I get it right (95%) I don`t hear a peep.....
I really wish that at the next AGM, someone will put up against me and be voted in by the membership, but it won`t happen......why??
Well, quite simply, it`s far easier to have a moan, but actually do nothing about it, so, they won`t do anything.....
And if someone DID put up, the 70% would vote me back in anyhow.
Me?.....Well, I could resign, but then, that would leave the club squarely in the brown smelly stuff, and since I enjoy a few beers in there myself, (when I`m not receiving aggro from the 30% that is) so I am not prepared to let that happen...
Does anyone see a pattern emerge? Adam maybe?
I am sure that Ian will see EXACTLY what I mean...
