The layout of this site is by far the best forum layout available. You know where to find the threads you're interested in because they don't move, you know how much of any given thread you have read at a glance, you can see the activity on any thread at a glance, it maintains the flow of conversation unlike other sites, where you have to quote the person you are responding to (which takes up a lot of vertical screen space and makes half the thread content quotes of other people), etc etc etc.

There could be improvements however, that wouldn't be to the detriment of the way the forum currently works:

1) Allow the uploading of images but DO NOT embed them in the post, simply provide a link to them.

2) Allow threads to be "rolled up" so "dead" threads are less visible.

I can't think of anything else that would fundamentally improve the site.
