Hiya Kevin
Like yourself, I too had a 3g iphone for two years, but after promptings from one or two on here, Doink mainly.....lol, I decided to join the android revolution and although it has only been two months, I have not regretted it.
I don`t think the Wildfire was out when I took out a 2 year contract on my Desire, otherwise I would have looked at it, but, to be honest, I haven`t found the desire heavy or bulky in any way, in fact, size wise, not found it too dissimilar to the iphone I had.
It`s a great phone, but I am still learning things on it, usually finding something new every day.
I was a bit surprised you said you found the Wildfire a bit difficult to use, I had a little trepidation about the desire too, but it was a real pussycat. Out of the box and switch it on and it leads you through a setting up process, a bit similar to setting up a plasma TV, really simple, and within 30 minutes, I was basically all set up, and within a few days I had downloaded a stack of free apps, some really good ones too and about 400 songs from my library.
It comes out of the box with a 4gb memory card, I did think about buying a 16gig card, but haven`t bothered as yet, with 400 songs on board and about 50 apps, I still have about 1.5gig left, so, something I will do later.
Unlike the iphone it has a removable battery, so, if you wish you can always have a charged spare handy......that doesn`t bother me since I work from home, so am never far from a charger.....or my laptop of course.
Where it has really scored for me, is how much better it actually does things and how the `little` things are so much better. I love stupid little things like the windscreen wiper on the home screen when you switch it on if its a rainy day......always makes me smile, the live wallpapers are brilliant too, but a bit of a battery drain. It multitasks superbly, and the internet runs about three times as quickly, really instantaneous. I get a full day from the battery, thats making maybe 50 texts a day, a few calls, some internet usage, although not much. Very similar battery span to iphone, but with the advantage of being able to carry a spare battery.
Great phone, and andriod really does seem the way forward to me, having used both this and iphone.
I know which I prefer.....
