There are two fundamental problems with the NHS that no government will ever be able to solve :
o Its publicly owned and controlled. o Its far too big.
Both of these are a result of the national desire to have free medical care at the point of need. Until that national desire somehow changes, no government will be able to properly reform the NHS.
While these recent changes appear pius in theory, I think they will be extremely difficult if not impossible to implement because of union intrasigence and a lack of public will to do anything that might degrade their healthcare.
Let me go back to the original question... what is management ?
Management is a technique employed by one person to enable another person to perform better than they ordinarily would without it. I'm afraid, not much management goes on in the NHS.
