"bikes stand out, car safety has come on in last couple of decades, imagine 90% of the f1 grid sat in modern day f1 cars, 10% sat in 60s based cars, then chuck them all on the track together, the 10% are bikers, seat belts/airbags/crumple zones apply to the guys in the metal boxes but dont too the ones most at risk, so if these measures are needed for the ones at least at risk why isnt the same rules being applied to bikers"
mmmm......interesting.
So where would you propose putting airbags on a bike, and would they serve any purpose if you were flung from a machine. There are now modern race suits with airbags fitted inside them, which could prove handy........in fact racing leathers have come a long way. Watch a bike meeting, I have seen drivers inspect the tarmac at well over 100mph, and simply slide along on their back for a couple of hundred yards then get up and walk away with just a few scrapes to the suit.......several years ago you would have left most of your skin on the track.
