The fact is that the TT isn't put on specifically for the spectators unlike your insane Gladiator analogy, it's put on for the riders.
The TT is not held for my - or anyone else's - viewing pleasure. Spectators attend because it's spectacular. If there were no spectators, the riders would STILL race, unlike your spurious Gladiator analogy.
I'm not saying that the huge steps forward in safety in F1 and MGP are a bad thing. I don't harken back to the old days, what I'm saying is that it is not for do-gooding busybodies with nothing but the safety of the riders in mind to ban something just because they think it's too dangerous.
Would I ride a 200mph motorbike on the TT circuit? No f*****g chance. Far too dangerous for me, but I'll fight for the right of others to do it. I think they're out of their bl**dy minds but I take my hat off to them.
